Friday roundup: Duckworth tosses five TD passes as Jackson rips Mobile Christian 49-7

JACKSON — Quarterback Landon Duckworth threw for five touchdowns to propel No. 1-ranked Jackson to a commanding 49-7 victory over No. 6-ranked Mobile Christian at Legion Field Friday night.

Duckworth completed 24 passes for 535 yards and Junior Payne was his go-to target, hauling in 11 receptions for 250 yards and two touchdowns.

Duckworth hit Keeyun Chapman, who had five receptions for 151 yards, for a 40- and 60-yard TDs. He found Payne from 30 and 60 yards out and also tossed a 25-yard touchdown pass to Isaiah Hill.

E.J. Crowell, who finished with 69 rushing yards on six carries, broke a 39-yard scoring run for the Aggies.

Saraland 34,

McGill-Toolen 12

Jamison Roberts, filling in for injured starter K.J. Lacey, was 16-of-23 passing for 253 yards and four touchdowns in his first varsity start as the No. 1-ranked Spartans rolled to victory at the Lipscomb Complex.

Running back Santae McWilliams ran 24 times for 141 yards and a TD while the Saraland defense recorded six sacks.

The Lions’ Taijh Overton intercepted a pass by B.C. Rain quarterback Malachi Adams at the Lions’ 25 to stop the Red Raiders’ final drive as No. 10 Williamson held on to remain undefeated.

Jacoby Crandall returned a blocked field goal attempt 99 yards with no time remaining as the Hurricanes shocked the host Warriors.

Tank Jones snagged a 28-yard touchdown pass and Anthony Frazier scored on a 13-yard run as the Saints held off the Bobcats.

Foley 14

Thomas White rushed for 138 on 12 carries as the Vikings rolled up 301 yards rushing in the romp at Foley. MGM’s defense held the Lions to only 42 yards rushing.

J.U. Blacksher 14

TaMyus Pugh passed for 210 yards as the Bulldogs rolled in Grove Hill. Pugh hit Standarius Gladney and DaMyon Horn for touchdown passes. Horn also added a 53-yard TD on the ground.

Central-Hayneville 0

Trey Smith returned the opening kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown to spark the Bulldogs’ rout.

Kelin May tacked on three touchdown runs in the first half on carries of 3 and 2 yards and 1 yard.

Braelyn McGrew and Jaylin Howze each had a pick-six of 42 and 90 yards, respectively.
