St. Luke’s nails down playoff berth with 22-0 win over Chickasaw

Jeremy Menhennett completed 6 of 13 passes for 107 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 84 yards on 11 carries and another score as St. Luke’s clinched a playoff spot with a 22-0 win over Chickasaw at Dotson Field Thursday night.

Menhennett scored on a 5-yard run and threw a 60-yard TD pass to Turner Tillman. Bryce Jordan added a 9-yard scoing run for the Wildcats (4-4, 3-3 2A Region 1), who secured the fourth and final seed from the region.

Willie Maddox rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown to lead the No. 9-ranked Lions to victory at Ladd-Peebles Stadium.

Maddox scored on a 25-yard run and Williamson also got a pair of 5-yard TD runs from Keyante Pettaway and Ellis McGaskin.

McGaskin also blocked a punt which Yusuf Clark returned 61 yards for a touchdown.

Lions quarterback AJ Dinkins completed 17 of 27 passes for 171 yards and capped the scoring with a 37-yard TD pass to Jaylen Scott.

Defensively, Williamson shut out its fifth opponent of the season.

It was the regular-season finale for the Lions (9-1, 6-1 5A Region 2), who will host a first-round playoff game in two weeks.

McIntosh 66, Fruitdale 0

 

Cedric Riley exploded for 145 yards and three touchdowns on just eight carries as the host Blue Demons closed the season on a high note, winning their second straight game, delivering their first shutout this season and setting a school record for the most points in a game.

Riley scored on runs of 75, 50 and 20 yards. Kevonte Diamond tossed a 50-yard scoring pass to Leon Rocker and Marcus Belton had TD runs of 5 and 6 yards for the Demons (3-7, 3-4 1A Region 1).
