THEODORE — Trey Garner threw four touchdown passes as Class 7A Fairhope extended its winning streak to five games by ripping Class 6A Theodore 31-7 at C.A. Douglas Field Friday night.

Garner completed 9 of 17 passes for 222 yards, including touchdown passes of 41 yards to Fisher Southall, 18 and 43 yards to Byron Martin and 44 yards to Andres Hunt.

“That’s the best football team we’ve played all year,” said Pirates coach Tim Carter, whose team moved to 5-1. “It was our best effort this season and it came after Theodore had a tough battle last week (against St. Paul’s).”

Kendrick Able ran for 163 yards on 16 carries for the Bobcats (4-2). Quarterback Crishon Overton was 7-of-13 passing for 66 yards and had an 8-yard touchdown run.

“Fairhope came to play and we didn’t,” Theodore coach Steve Mask said. “They whipped us in every phase of the football game — kicking, defense, offense and coaching and it’s all credit to Fairhope. They wanted this game worse than we did. They outplayed us, they outcoached us and what we’re going to need to do is make a decision on how we’re going to react to it. They lined up and whipped our rear end. It was a good, old-fashioned butt whipping.”
