FAIRHOPE — Kam Smith ran for 183 yards on 26 carries and had a pair of big-play touchdowns to lead No. 3-ranked Mary G. Montgomery to a 28-21 win over Fairhope Friday night.
Smith scored on a 69-yard run and a 70-yard pass on the third play from scrimmage.
“I’m so thankful the coaches trusted me in those situations,” Smith said. “I felt good all night. I just had to keep going for my teammates.”
The Vikings (8-0, 5-0 7A Region 1) trailed 13-7 at halftime but MGM scored on back-to-back drives to open the third quarter and take a 21-13 lead after Smith’s 69-yard TD in which he refused to go down.
“I just kept my feet moving,” Smith said. “Coach told not to go down.”
The Pirates (6-2, 4-1) needed only four plays to tie it 21-21 when Trey Garner connected with Andres Hunt for a 55-yard score.
But Devin Pettway’s 5-yard TD run with 4:48 left put the Vikings ahead to stay.
“It’s just a special group of guys who don’t quit,” MGM coach Zach Golson said.
MGM rushed for 285 yards, with Shondell Harris adding 68 yards on nine.

MOBILE — The No. 2-ranked Lions took advantage of early Bulldogs miscues and Alvin Dinkins and Todrick Withers gashed UMS-Wright’s defense.
Dinkins was 15-of-24 passing for 138 yards and three touchdowns while Withers had 136 yards on 23 carries and scored on runs of 7 yards and 1 yard for Williamson (7-0, 5-0 5A Region 1), which will face No. 1-ranked Vigor at Ladd-Peebles Stadium a week from Saturday night.
The Lions’ defense, touted as one of the best in the state, forced five turnovers — two fumbles and three interceptions — and sacked Bulldogs quarterback Max Fowler eight times for 43 yards in losses. Fowler was 11-of-28 passing for 75 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions for UMS-Wright (4-3, 3-2).

MOBILE — The visiting, No. 8-ranked Admirals broke open a tie game with two touchdowns in the third quarter to roll past the No. 7 Warriors at Charles V. Lang Stadium.
In a penalty-marred third quarter, Davis Barrett (16-of-31 passing, 185 yards) connected with Caid Lyons on a 43-yard shovel pass for a TD, then Barrett tossed a 23-yard scoring strike to Monroe Partin to make it 22-7.
Eli Boswell recovered a fumble to set up a 3-yard scoring run by Brennen Yamane in the first quarter for a 7-0 Bayside lead but Aaron Ward scored on a 17-yard run early in the second quarter to tie it 7-7.
The teams combined for seven personal fouls, with the Admirals flagged 17 times for 140 yards and Cottage Hill 11 for 121.

GILBERTOWN — Bears safety and running back Keegan Giles scored on a 25-yard run, a 31-yard reception and a 60-yard kick return and had the game-sealing interception in No. 3 Leroy’s win over the unbeaten, No. 8 Indians.
“Feeling very pumped up,” Giles said. “I feel like our team really needed this and I was playing for our team.”
Ja’Kavien Collins added 102 yards on 15 carries, including a 3-yard touchdown run in the second quarter.
“Keegan had a great game tonight,” Bears coach Chan Lowe said. “I’m glad to see us come together there and for him to really shine tonight. I’m proud of him.”
Sawyer Sullivan came on for injured starting quarterback Jace Sellers and was 10-of-15 passing for 73 yards and a touchdown to Giles in the fourth quarter.
Cory Yelder had three catches for 10 yards for Leroy (8-0, 5-0 1A Region 1). Southern Choctaw fell to 6-1, 4-1.
“This is what a Silas and Leroy game is supposed to be like,” Lowe said. “It’s supposed to be a hard-fought, really good ballgame and it proved that tonight.”

FAIRHOPE — The top-ranked Cardinals scored three touchdowns in the fourth quarter to pull away and beat the visiting Leopards, who lost despite 302 yards and four scores from Jason Todd.
Quarterback Gunner Rivers threw for 195 yards and three touchdowns to Brody Jones (8 receptions, 130 yards) while Noah Moss ran for 274 yards and a trio of TDs for St. Michael (7-0, 5-0 4A Region 1).
Moss ran for scores of 24, 4 and 17 yards while Rivers hit Jones for scores of 9, 19 and 35 yards for the Cardinals, who led 25-22 heading into the final quarter.
Todd scored on runs of 80, 3, 64 and 11 yards while Sema’J Law scored on a 14-yard pass from Israel Benard for Mobile Christian (5-2, 2-2).
