I really miss the crossword puzzles you used to have. Any other games are appreciated. I do not now purchase your paper unless I see a cover story that interest me. I would even pay more if you included these stress relieving exercises. Thank you.

Our local and state legislators need to take action to outlaw the COVID vaccines. They aren’t safe and they aren’t effective. They are deadly control devices which will ultimately be used to deny rights to citizens. Ivermectin and HCL should also be made available from state and county health clinics.

Also, how about a survey to determine if constuents of our elected officials have been killed or maimed by the COVID vaccines? Doesn’t it seem reasonable that they would care enough for the public welfare to investigate threats to public safety and shut them down?

      If the elected

Students are in communities and a part of our daily lives whether we want them to be or not. We should acknowledge that they are not products. They are not simply a part of some commercial mechanized quota we must meet every month. We should acknowledge they deserve the best chance at life and success with dedicated professionals and goals for the future. We ought to look at students as our true hope for a better society and future both young and old. We ought to provide an opportunity to make the best programs to support that. Education is not about profits, contracts, or some lucrative business association where teachers and tax-payer school boards are a free marketplace to be poached by agents of insurance, products, or capital gain interests. Teachers are professionals and must be competent and able to do their jobs, but also must be allowed and left alone to do their jobs. Far too often, distractions are abundant in the daily schedule for teachers and students. Paperwork has long overburdened our teachers. This is unacceptable. We do not impede commerce in the State of Alabama, so why is it we allow tone-deaf representatives, senators, and ill-equipped bureaucrats to conduct the business of education and ultimately interfere with the educational process? It is all about the money! As I write this very simple article, I can think very few times where those making the decisions in education actually asked themselves, “How will this ultimately help a student.” The answer is most decisions made in education in Alabama are not made by Alabama educators or those in the classroom, but rather by those with an economic interest – because as long as money/profit is prioritized over student success and learning, education and ultimately those achievements results will languish. HOW COME ALABAMA ELECTED OFFICIALS HAVE NOT FIGURED THIS OUT? The answer is clear: they do not care. If they did, we would see stark changes, exceptional focus on the matters at-hand, and swift movement (monetary and otherwise) to demand results and at the very heart of that argument, promote excellence in education! Education is about making the world a better place through every avenue in which to do so: this may mean enhanced teacher-mentor/apprenticeships, increased school choices/options via increased funding opportunities, new and innovative schools, programs, and extra-curricular opportunities, as well as increased achievement with a strong focus on foundational skills such as early literacy and numeracy. We cannot simply allow bureaucratic organizations, commissions, political groups, or otherwise non-educational intentioned parties to infiltrate and distract from our most precious resource and goal: the children in the State of Alabama and their ultimate educational success.

So glad to see the call news in my mailbox and it’s GROWING bigger each week. I had a weekly paper for years when I lived in MN and my home state of NC. I’m glad to know I can count on the Call News to let me know what is going on in the county as well as Semmes area. Thanks so much!

Jimmy Wigfield’s articles on UMS and Clay Co playoff game, and their respective coaches was sports journalism at its best. Coach Horn’s post game comments were as Bear Bryant said “nothing but class”. It has been too long since I’ve seen Jimmy Wigfield’s byline, but from now on I will be on the lookout!
