Theodore four-star linebacker Cameron Pruitt said late Saturday night he has committed to Miami.
Pruitt (6-2, 185), who has offers from two-dozen colleges — including Auburn, Alabama, Tennessee, Arkansas, Florida, LSU, Texas A&M, Kentucky, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Notre Dame and Penn State — announced his decision on Twitter during an official visit to Miami.
Pruitt is ranked the No. 39 linebacker nationally in the class of 2024 in the On3 composite. He made 99 tackles, 15 for loss, last season for the Bobcats.
“He seemed excited about it,” Theodore coach Steve Mask said. “They’re getting a great player. He told me in the spring Miami was high on his list.”
Mask said Pruitt’s versatility will serve him well.
“In the ACC, there are a lot of spread offenses,” Mask said. “I believe you’ll see him be an outside linebacker-type guy who will also play down in the box, especially when he puts on some more weight, and he can also cover people. Bobby is a very, very physical player and I don’t think you’ll see him play very far away from the ball.”
Pruitt was traveling and could not be reached for comment but CaneSport reported Pruitt planned to continue taking visits, including one to Ole Miss. Mask said a visit to Arkansas had been cancelled.
“Miami knows I’m going on these visits but I’m solid,” Pruitt told CaneSport. “It’s just to make sure of everything, that Miami is the right place.”
