Jackson four-star quarterback Landon Duckworth announced Wednesday he has decommitted from South Carolina.
The 6-foot-3, 190-pound junior, ranked as the No. 13 quarterback nationally in the 2026 class according to the On3 composite, said he wants to explore all his options after committing to the Gamecocks nearly a year ago.
“I want to enjoy the recruiting process, visit other schools and take my time to make the best decision for my future,” Duckworth said.
Aggies coach Cody Flournoy said he supports Duckworth’s decision.
“It’s a great decision for Landon,” Flournoy said. “He’s still young and has a lot of potential. He needs to take his talent nationwide, explore different schools and have football conversations with college coaches. Landon is a D-I talent and has a bright future ahead.”
Duckworth’s mother, Tiffany Campbell, feels her son’s decision is sound.
“I support Landon’s decision wholeheartedly,” Campbell said. “He’s still young, has a lot to learn and nearly two years to explore and enjoy the recruitment process.”
Despite decommitting, Duckworth and his family emphasized they are maintaining a strong relationship with South Carolina and he remains open to considering the Gamecocks.
Duckworth’s decision brings a number of Power 5 programs back into the mix. He’s also been offered by Ole Miss, Florida, Texas A&M, Mississippi State, Vanderbilt, Arkansas, TCU, Nebraska, Oregon and Maryland.
Duckworth completed 118 of 196 passes for 1,971 yards, 27 touchdowns and four interceptions last year in leading Jackson to an 11-1 finish. The Aggies will be among the favorites to win the Class 4A state title this season.
