Duckworth throws for 339 yards,

five TDs, Jackson rips St. Michael

FAIRHOPE — Landon Duckworth was 12-of-16 passing for 339 yards and five touchdowns and scored on a 24-yard run as No. 1-ranked Class 4A Jackson routed No. 6. St. Michael 55-16 Friday night.

Four of Duckworth’s last five passes were for touchdowns. Three of Duckworth’s TD passes covered 78, 31 and 36 yards to Keeyun “Red” Chapman.

E.J. Crowell rushed for 135 yards on just 10 carries and two touchdowns and also scored on a spectacular 95-yard second-half kickoff return as the Aggies improved to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in 4A Region 1.

 

Citronelle breaks

losing streak to UMS

CITRONELLE — Citronelle forced three turnovers and held on to defeat UMS-Wright 14-7 Friday night at Gatlin Field to snap a four-game losing streak to the Bulldogs.

Eli Owens scored on a 1-yard run and James Reid scooped up a blocked punt and scored for Citronelle. Reid also had one of three interceptions for the Wildcats’ defense.

Citronelle held the Bulldogs scoreless until Bo Wills scored from a yard out with 2:55 left. Owens had a big 30-yard reception with 2:04 remaining to secure the victory.

It was the Wildcats’ first win over UMS-Wright since 1999 and Bulldogs coach Terry Curtis gave up his place as the state’s all-time winningest coach to Central Clay County’s Danny Horn, who now has 358 to Curtis’ 357.

It was Citronelle’s first win over the Bulldogs since 1999.

 

Roberts throws for 4 TDs

as Saraland blasts Tigers

SARALAND — Jamison Roberts threw for 144 yards and four touchdowns while the Saraland defense added a pair of scoop-and-scores for good measure as the top-ranked Spartans took a 55-7 victory over Baldwin County Friday night.

Deshawn Spencer ran for a 60-yard score and caught a 41-yard TD pass, C.D. Gill had TD receptions of 30 and 2 yards, Santae McWilliams ran 19 times for 83 yards and a 1-yard score and Teran Senegal hauled in a 30-yard scoring pass.

Defensively, Demaron Dunklin returned a fumble 62 yards for a touchdown and Antonio Coleman returned a fumble 20 yards for a TD.

 

McCants runs for three TDs

as T.R. Miller whips CHCA

MOBILE — Quayveon McCants rushed for three touchdowns to lead No. 1-ranked Class 3A T.R. Miller to a 48-7 win over Cottage Hill Christian Academy Friday night.
