PRICHARD — Carlos Benjamin ran for 116 yards on 14 carries and had touchdown runs of 31 yards and 1 yard and Jamarion Osborne threw a 62-yard touchdown pass on a trick play to Dylan Jackson as No. 5 Vigor routed UMS-Wright 41-10 in the Class 5A quarterfinals Friday night.
Jackson was 8-of-10 passing for 80 yards, Demetris Johnson added a touchdown, Aslan Jones scored on a 46-yard interception return and Michael Laland caught a 7-yard TD pass from backup quarterback Kevin Brisker as the Wolves (12-1) advanced to a showdown at No. 1 Montgomery Catholic (12-0) in the Class 5A semifinals Friday.
The Bulldogs (6-7) had just 9 yards net rushing against the toughest defense in the state. Max Fowler was 14-of-27 passing for 134 yards and a touchdown to Denton Elliott. Kingston Phan added a 38-yard field goal.
Jackson 41, Tallassee 10
JACKSON — E.J. Crowell rushed for 195 yards on just 11 carries and four touchdowns to lead the No. 1-ranked Aggies into the Class 4A semifinals.
Crowell’s TDs included a 50-yard breakaway, a 15-yard run in the third quarter and a pair of short-yardage runs in the first half.
Landon Duckworth completed 10 of 13 passes for 185 yards, including a 10-yard TD pass to Jamarrion Gordon. Duckworth also had a 5-yard touchdown run.
The Aggies (12-1) host St. Michael (13-1) in the semifinals Friday. The Aggies ripped the Cardinals 55-16 in the regular season.
