INVITATION TO BID
The South Marengo County Water and Fire Protection Authority (the “Board”) will accept bids for the project stated below. The bids will be accepted by mail at P.O. Box 480388, Linden, Alabama 36748, or at the office of South Marengo County Water, 2206 South Main Street, Linden, Alabama no later than 2:00 p.m. on September 27, 2024, and then publicly opened and read at the Water Office immediately thereafter.

The work consists of various water work items set forth by the bid documents, along with the necessary traffic control, erosion control, turfing, and other miscellaneous work set forth by the bid documents. Disposal of all unsuitable and/or excess materials removed from the site during the course of the work shall be in accordance with all local, state, and federal requirements. All work shall be in accordance with the bid package (including the drawings and specifications) prepared for this bid.
Contractors bidding on this project must hold a current license from the State Licensing Board of General Contractors, Montgomery, Alabama. No bids will be considered unless the bidder, whether resident or non-resident of Alabama, is properly qualified to submit a proposal for this construction in accordance with all applicable laws of the State of Alabama. This shall include evidence of holding a current license from the State Licensing Board for General Contractors, Montgomery, Alabama, as required by Chapter 8 of Title 34 of the Code of Alabama, 1975. The bidder must hold a “Municipal and Utility” major license classification. In addition, non-residents of the state, if a corporation, shall show evidence of having qualified with the Secretary of State to do business in the State of Alabama.
A bid bond or certified check equal to five percent (5%) of the bid amount payable to the South Marengo County Water and Fire Protection Authority must accompany each bid. If a bid bond is provided, the form shall be that provided in the contract document booklet.
The bid documents may be inspected at the office of Speaks & Associates, Consulting Engineers, Inc., and may be obtained by completing a Request for Bid Documents form (which may be obtained by emailing brendah@speaks.cc and requesting it), along with payment of a deposit of $100.00 payable to Speaks & Associates. Twenty (20) working days are allowed for the construction of the project.
All bids must be on blank forms provided in the Specifications.
