LeFlore High head football coach Michael Perry was fired Thursday, according to the Mobile County Public School System.
Perry was relieved of his duties a day before the Rattlers’ season-ending game against Foley.
MCPSS Director of Communications Rena Philips confirmed Perry’s firing but did not comment further, citing it as a personnel matter. Attempts to reach Perry were unsuccessful. Markus Douglas served the Rattlers’ interim head coach in the 30-0 loss to Foley Thursday night.
Perry, who was in his first season at LeFlore, took over as head coach after Renardo Jackson stepped down after three seasons and took the Vigor job. The Rattlers finished 3-7, their best record since 2018. Under Jackson, Vigor finished 8-2 in the regular season and is going to the Class 5A playoffs.
